MACRIM SmartFolders is a tool that will help your organization integrate systems and automate processes based on a workflow configuration.

SmartFolders runs as a Windows Service, and simply polls folders for the existence of files. Once a file of the configured type is detected, a predefined set of actions occur – usually ending with the archiving of the original file and some output written to a specified directory.

Currently SmartFolders 1.0 is a stand-alone Windows Service, and the folder/workflow configurations are maintained in an XML file on the Windows PC or Server. SmartFolders Server, which will facilitate the management of multiple HotFolder implementations across an enterprise, is expected to be released by January 2009.
